Farol Beach is crowded and agitated: there you find tourists, vacationers and native people living together harmoniously. The region has a great variety of camping sites and inns (pousadas), as well as summer houses belonging to long-time resorters.
Praia do Farol main attraction is the lighthouse built in 1872 to guide ships into Porto de Paranaguá (Paranaguá Harbor).
The beach is long and washed by a calm ocean. As Praia de Farol, a 400 meter-beach to the right of the lighthouse hill, has the best surfing-waves in the Island because it is washed by open-waters, we can frequently see surfers along the trails in the woods walking towards it. At night the bar and restaurant fill the air with their cheerful noise. |
