It is very easy to reach Pousada Pedra da Baleia: Praia da Fortaleza, where it is located, is 3 km away from Praia Nova Brasília (Nova Brasilia Beach), where the boats moor when arriving at Ilha do Mel.
The boats leave from Pontal do Paraná, a resort area on the Paraná coast, situated 110 km away from Curitiba, the State of Paraná Capital. There are two boat lines: one takes you to Praia Nova Brasília (Nova Brasília Beach) and the other takes you to Praia das Encantadas (Encantadas Beach). To reach Pousada Pedra da Baleia you have to take a boat to Praia Nova Brasília. The boats leave Pontal do Paraná each 30 minutes daily and take around half an hour to reach the Island.
To go to Praia da Fortaleza, where Pousada Pedra da Baleia is located, you can take a small motor-boat, known as “Taxi Náutico”, near the place the boats arrive. It costs R$ 35,00 and takes 5 minutes to arrive in the Pousada. You can also walk along the beach for 40 minutes, or if the tide is high take a trail in the woods.
